Dr. Fisher was Titus Street Professor of Ecclesiastical History at Yale University, and Dr. White (who had been president of Cornell) was an American Ambassador in Germany and in Russia. These three men were boyhood friends. The picture was taken at the time of a "house party" which Mrs. Pepper gave them in the cottage on School House Ledge. Others who were members of the "party" were Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Stimson.
