Built in 1820, original owner Major Manchester of Northeast Harbor. The oldest house in Northeast Harbor, built by the Manchester Family, one of the first settlers in the area. Addition circa 1900 by Fred Savage - arched windows in dormer. 1930's L. Keyes owner. 1986 owner: estate of Mrs. Henry Platt. Other owners: Pierrepont, Kirkland. "This photo resolves arguments about whether or not the field west of the pond was settled. Frank Callahan was a farmer and blacksmith whose smithy stood out nearer the seawall. This caption and photo are more recent than the others. In the 1880's there was no need to distinguish between this pond and the one one the west side of the island because the other was called 'Great Pond.'" Tom Eliot

1914-24 owned by the Bishop William T. Manning, NYC (later Bishop of NY). 1925-40 Morris Clothier, Villa Nova, PA. About 1930 Manning moved to Somesville to "The Old House" opposite the Library.

In 1906 panoramic photograph on file the barn is much further back on property, so it must have been moved. The land where the barn was located is now the Astor cottage.
